John Koller, Marketing Hardware Executive di Sony, parlando con Gamespot, ha riferito come l’azienda giapponese pensi che la propria console di precedente generazione, la PlayStation 3, abbia ancora dai tre ai quattro anni di vita: questo significa almeno un altro anno di supporto concreto per la PS3.
We believe that the platform has a lot of life left in it. Two, three, four years; we think there’s time left in the platform. It depends on the content. We have a good lineup this year and it looks like a good lineup next year. We need to keep fueling that.
We really have to keep PS3 alive.
And so to do that, we have to further the content. I think there will be a good story for the PS3 over the next year to two years
La PlayStation 3 ha sicuramente un futuro, anche grazie alle nuove tecnologie che Sony sta preparando e ha già lanciato: lo streaming PS Now, con il quale la PS3 è compatibile, che permetterà alla “vecchia” console di effettuare lo streaming da PS4 e PS Vita. Soprattutto la console portatile di casa Sony è la companion prediletta della PlayStation 3: Sony infatti aveva riferito come generalmente chi possedeva una PS3 possedeva pure una PS Vita, è possibile quindi che sia proprio il supporto della console portatile la nuova vita della precedente console Sony.
