Google Glass: saranno il futuro? O sono solo un grandissimo esperimento di Google? Secondo Chris Barrett, Glass Explorer sin dall’inizio, gli smart glass di Google non valgono tutto il mal di testa che provocano con l’uso.
Chris Barrett usa i Google Glass dalla loro uscita: è stato il primo a registrare un arresto, il primo a portarli in un casino e il primo a portarli al cinema, ma dal primo gennaio li porta per massimo un’ora al giorno. Perchè? Perchè purtroppo ora soffre di forti mal di testa:
The first headache came during the first week of wearing Glass. I was wearing Glass every day, all day long; I would wear it to Starbucks; I would wear it to the mall; I would wear it driving, and I would wear it at my office. There wasn’t a minute I didn’t have it on. By the second day wearing Glass, I was Googling everything I could, impressed with the novelty, demonstrating for friends, taking photos/videos. After a few hours of use, my head started to pound. I don’t usually get headaches. I thought maybe I was just tired, so I decided to sleep it off.
A portare questi mal di testa sembra essere la peculiare posizione dello schermo, in alto a destra per l’occhio destro: il dover guardare molto in alto – fattore che varia di persona in persona – e dover cambiare fuoco ogni poco tempo, potrebbe sicuramente provocare fastidio, un po’ come portare occhiali o lenti sbagliati.
Barrett ha così continuato:
I have it on my desk every day, but I just don’t have a good enough reason to wear it. It’s not worth the headache. I get my e-mails on my laptop or iPhone if I’m on the go.
Un portavoce di Google ha ovviamente riferito che tutto il team di Google Glass ha a cuore la salute degli utenti: purtroppo non esistono occhi, nasi e facce uguali, per cui sarà difficile trovare un design degli smart glass perfetto per tutti. Bisogna sicuramente lavorarci, visto che il lancio dovrebbe avvenire nel 2014, ed è probabile che il mal di testa sia acuito nei clienti portatori di lenti da vista.
